From Where I Stand (Two Boys 143) marks the first effort from the Righteous Brothers' longtime bandleader, Barry Rillera.

Rillera, who also backed Ray Charles and played with Jerry LaCroix's White Trash, has distilled a fine blend of R&B and Blues. "Why" is upbeat funk; "The Time Keeps Rollin' Along" swings behind horns and scat-sung solo; "I Played With Your Feelings" is sophisticated slow blues marked by intense vocals and a guitar break and speechlike phrasing and expressiveness.

Rillera penned nine strong songs. This is not your typical 12 bar shuffle, verse-verse-solo-verse album. Recommended.
